Three people suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds Monday evening following an argument that escalated into a shooting on the BART-to-Antioch transfer platform in Pittsburg, transit officials said.
BART Police responded to the scene at approximately 5:25 p.m. According to the transit agency, an argument between two people prompted the shooting.
All three victims were transported to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. BART Police apprehended one suspect nearby and are actively searching for a second suspect.
The incident caused significant transit disruptions, but train service between North Concord/Martinez and Pittsburg/Bay Point has since been restored.
A bus bridge operated by Tri Delta Transit remains in place for the shorter distance between Pittsburg/Bay Point and Antioch.
For riders at the Pittsburg Center Station, a train is available from Antioch to the Pittsburg Center after passengers exit the bus.
BART Police crime scene technicians are working to process the scene so the BART-to-Antioch platform can be released for regular service, an action transit officials expect to happen Monday evening.
