Florida Democratic Party Responds to Trump, Delivers Closing Argument

The Florida Democratic Party responded to Trump’s political push in the state, delivering an election closing argument for change.

President Donald Trump has held numerous Florida campaign rallies, pushing to elect Republicans up and down the ballot. Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried recently joined Democratic elected officials and community leaders in Daytona Beach to deliver the party’s closing argument, with days until the November 3rd midterm elections.

Florida Democrats also highlighted that Trump was campaigning in Florida amid declining approval ratings and growing voter dissatisfaction with his economic agenda.

The Florida Democratic Party also said the Republican candidate for Governor, Byron Donalds, and his fellow Republicans have made recent attempts to distance themselves from Trump. Many Republican candidates have been spotlighting support from Governor Ron DeSantis instead.

Democratic speakers told reporters that after nearly three decades of one-party rule in Tallahassee, Republicans can’t outrun their records on the rising cost of living, from gas above $4 a gallon to climbing health care premiums, while Byron Donalds gives Trump’s economy an “A” rating.

“No pep rally changes what Floridians live with every single day: the consequences of Trump’s failed agenda and nearly 30 years of Republican control in Tallahassee […] And where has that gotten us?” said Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried. “Homeowners are paying insurance bills that feel like a second mortgage. Power bills keep climbing because state regulators approved the largest utility rate hike in American history. Hundreds of thousands of Floridians lost their health coverage this year after Republicans in Washington let health care tax credits expire… Floridians deserve more than that.”

On the other side, Florida Trump-endorsed candidates are hoping the political support will help ensure victory over the Democrats. A long list of Florida candidates received the Trump endorsement.
