A man drowned in Sims Bayou near the Allendale neighborhood of Houston Friday evening after going into the water despite warnings from a bystander, according to Houston Police Department officials.
The incident happened around 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 17, 2026, near Mosa Creek at Allendale.
According to Lt. Pulido with HPD, the victim’s car broke down in the area when a witness stopped to help him with repairs.

“While they worked on the car, the victim said he wanted to swim in the bayou, and the witness said he told him not to,” Pulido said.
Despite the warning, the victim entered the bayou fully clothed and began swimming.
“The victim then went under multiple times, and on his last attempt to go under, he never came back up,” Pulido said.
HPD responded to the scene and recovered the victim’s body.
